Why should I participate at moviebakery? What are my benefits?

Benefits? Yes of course! Here is a little snapshot:

Joining moviebakery is free. Sign up and see what is happening!
You can have fun, make movies and get paid. If you submit a pitch, we like it and you make a video, you'll get paid - no matter if our clients like your movie or not.
You get to work for clients that are hard to reach directly. Our company conceptbakery has been around for over 5 years and is considered an expert in new media marketing. Due to our reputation we are being contacted by many top-notch clients that are looking for our expertise. We invite you to become part of us and show your talent to our clients and their audience.
We are professionals for cutting edge marketing. We'll help you to develop and optimize your ideas.
Your videos will be more popular if moviebakery and our clients take care of the distribution and promotion versus you posting your own material online by yourself. It also saves you time and lets you focus on your next project.
Our clients can provide you with marketing material that is copyrighted and that you otherwise could not be able to use in your movies.
And plenty more...

Our model is based on cooperation with you and requires you to be protected. You need to trust us that your concepts are not being used by third parties without your prior consent and we trust you that you won't publish movies by yourself or try to contact our clients directly during the time of a project.

Is my personal data protected?

Yes, of course. Your personal information will not be submitted to any third parties. We might see a scenario where a client likes your work a lot and would like to take it to the next level and work with you directly. In this case we will ask for your permission first before your contact information is released. Please see our Privacy Policy for further details.

Can any movie maker participate at moviebakery?

Almost anyone. One condition: You need to have a reference project online that we can review. If your movie quality is sufficient and if your profile doesn't raise any red flags we will invite you to become part of moviebakery.

How does moviebakery select its movie makers?

Creativity & thinking outside the box rules over professional movie making experience.
If you are able to come up with original, creative, provoking ideas and are dedicated enough to turn them into something visually appealing you should consider becoming a part of moviebakery. Of course we expect good sound and image quality. But we don't expect you to get your Panavision 35mm camera out ;-)

Do I need to be a marketing or movie guru in order to participate at moviebakery?

No. moviebakery allows marketing outsiders to participate in a process of developing marketing content for our clients. We believe that everyone has some creativity inside themselves. Of course we will review what is submitted by you and give you feedback in order to guaranty certain quality standards.

Can your clients choose the movie makers for their project?

No. This is our job. We select the movie makers for any given project. Our clients get to select certain criteria and based on that, we will invite movie makers to submit their pitches.

We might have some add-on packages for clients on the future that give them more control in the movie maker selection process.

Can your clients choose the language(s) of their videos?

Our clients are encouraged to choose English as the language for their movies. Alternatively they can decide on sound only or on a text message within the movie. Some of our clients are located in Germany and some of them have a preference for German or no-dialog videos. Occasionally a client might ask for other languages. Therefore you are asked to submit additional languages in your profile that you can deliver.

Do you require professional video quality?

No. Many successful Internet videos have been made by amateurs. The quality is still outstanding but they clearly don't have access to a Hollywood studio.

We'd still encourage you to shoot in the best quality possible and keep these files as a backup. A client might opt to have a video published in a higher resolution and we might negotiate a better rate for you in this case (i.e. movie theatre advertising).

How do I avoid the rejection of my pitches?

Submit your best ideas. Our system is based on us filtering the best ideas for our clients. Develop your ideas from the beginning to the end. Be precise in your pitches.
Is it original? Will it work for this particular client? Will viewers be tempted to share this video with someone else?

Take a look at our 10 pitch commandments. you can see them in the pitching once you are registered and logged in. The more you are in line with these commandments and the client's requirements, the higher your chances to become accepted.

Don't be discouraged if your pitch is rejected. Maybe your next one will make it.

How many ideas per project can I submit?

You can submit up to 5 ideas per project. If we reject any of your ideas you can submit more. We'd like you to submit quality instead of quantity though. Keep in mind that only one idea per movie maker can be accepted for any given project - no matter how many pitches you supplied, only one of them will be chosen. We select 10 separate movie makers per project.

Is every pitch getting turned into a video?

No. If an idea doesn't meet our requirements we will reject it. You will be notified in case your idea was rejected.

Who decides which pitches are getting accepted?

Our creative team will decide on that.

We recently added an optional package that allows clients to screen the pitches and be involved in the idea selection process. This option also allows clients to give some feedback and make suggestions.

What happens if my idea was accepted but I fail to submit a video?

We expect you to submit your movies within the date you specify - usually up to 4 weeks from you accepting to producing your movie. A late or non-delivery is a violation of our code of honor. If you miss a deadline you need to have a VERY valid reason in order not to be excluded from moviebakery. If you foresee trouble with a delivery date, you should contact us ASAP.

Of course the are no legal implications for you if you fail to deliver. Participating at moviebakery is strictly voluntary. Whoever wants to participate can do so. Nobody is coerced to do anything.

How much time do I have to produce a video?

Usually you have up to four weeks from the time your idea has been accepted to to submitting your movie. Sometimes the time period might be a bit longer or shorter.
We recommend submitting the movies ASAP: The sooner you submit a movie, the sooner we can accept it and the sooner you can get paid.

Will every video that has been produced also be published?

Not necessarily. First, we check if a movie meets the clients' requirements, is in line with your pitch and meets our minimum quality standards. If a submitted movie is rejected, we will tell you the reasons and will ask you to submit a revised version.

Once a movie is accepted by us (that should be the normal scenario if you deliver as promised), the client will review the movies and will decide on the course of action for each movie they receive.

Who decides which movies will be published?

Our clients have the final decision on that. The client also gets to decide on which channels a video will be published.

What happens to videos that don't get published?

The clients own the rights to the movies they paid for. If they decide against the publication of the movie you can't publish it either. You get paid for every movie that was accepted by us - even for the movies that won't be getting published.
It is important to protect and respect our clients. If a movie wasn't supposed to get published and still shows up, you could become banned from moviebakery and a client might take legal action against you.

Who owns the rights to the pitches and the videos?

If a pitch is rejected, the movie maker retains the right to the idea. If a pitch is accepted the rights are moving to moviebakery. Once a movie is submitted to the customer, they own the rights to the movie - no matter if they decide to use it or not.

How about copyright issues such as using music in a video?

You are responsible for all copyright violations in your movies. Sometimes a client might provide you with some copyrighted material (i.e. sound, logo, product images) that you can use in your movie.

If the client doesn't provide sound and you'd like to use someone else's material you need to get a written permission by the artist or their representatives. You are responsible for any copyright violations that might occur with material you have chosen.

An alternative is the use of license & royalty free music that can be obtained at various platforms.

How will your clients use my video?

The primary use is the use of the movie on the Internet. If a client likes to use an idea beyond this, they will ask for a higher resolution format. If this is for movie theater or even TV advertising we will negotiate a rate with the client on a one-by-one basis and you will receive an extra payment.

Some clients changed their course of direction once they have seen the quality of the videos. They realized that these videos could be used for more than just web publishing. Your work might plant the right ideas in their heads;-)

Can I publish the movies I produced for moviebakery myself?

Not without our prior consent. The client gets to decide which videos are getting published and where they will be published.

We will notify you once a client has agreed that you can publish your video. Our experience so far is that most clients have no problems with you publishing your video through your own channels. It is in their best interest. But again: You have to wait for the clients' approval to publish your video.

How do people find out that I made a particular video?

Only moviebakery or our clients will publish the movies you provide to us. We will include your name, URL or YouTube name with the movie description and include you in the keywords when we submit a movie to a portal.

What format does moviebakery require for the production and the server upload of the videos?

Your movies need to be uploaded in MP4, AVI, ASF, Quicktime or Windows Media or even Divx. We prefer MP4 or Quicktime.
The aspect ratio should to be 4:3.
Your videos should have 30 frames per second.

If you like, you can upload your videos in various sizes: one for web publishing and one for full screen view.

What file size should the videos have?

You should find the best ratio between image quality and manageable file size. For web publishing a fast upload is mission critical. The web version of your movie has to stay within 100mb. You can also submit an additional 250mb version for full screen viewing.

When do I start making money?

Once you submit an idea, it has been accepted, and we verify that you deliver the movie as promised you are eligible to receive your 500 Euro (approx. $700 US) payment. We usually pay you within 10 working days.

How much can I make with my videos and when do I get paid?

If you submit a pitch, we accept it and you deliver the movie as specified we will pay you 500 Euros (approx. $700 US) for each movie. It doesn't matter if our client ends up using your movie or not. We will usually pay within 10 working days after you uploaded your movie.

If we are able to generate additional revenue with your video (revenue shared advertising models, extra payment for movie theatre publishing etc..) you can potentially earn additional income.
